My name is Shanda Collins, and I been working in the human service field for 22 years. I hold a Bachelor Degree from Simon Fraser University and a Masters Degree in Counselling from City University. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
My approach to counseling relies on a relational and eclectic approach. I respect that each client has their own experiences, worldviews, and knowledge that influence how they cope with change and transition in their life. I adapt my counselling to the needs of each client and provide a safe space where they can feel compassion, connection, acceptance, and understanding. I help clients deal with life transitions, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
We can work together on improving relationships, developing skills on emotional regulation and problem-solving, building confidence, awareness, and self-esteem. We can also focus on your strengths and gifts and how they serve as protective factors helping achieve your goals and overcome the challenges you face.
I enjoy spending time with my son, family, and friends, traveling, learning, and going to sports events and concerts. I also love being outdoors, especially near the ocean and mountains.
I have training in the following modalities:
- Narrative Therapy
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
- Emotion Focused Family Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma Informed CBT
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Gottman Methods Couples Therapy Level 1 & 2 (in progress)
- Advanced Training Certificate: Ecopsychology (January 2026)
- EMDR (in training Fall 2026)
